What to do first when the system quits in Franklin

Before you call, check the thermostat mode and batteries, the breakers for the indoor and outdoor units, the service switch near the furnace or air handler and the filter. Reset a tripped breaker once; if it trips again, leave it off. If the coil or refrigerant lines are iced, turn cooling off and let it thaw.

Shut the system down and call right away if you smell burning, hear grinding or see water coming through a ceiling. If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone out and call 911 or the gas utility from outside. If the whole street is dark, check the outage maps page first.

When you call, describe what the system is doing: not starting, running without cooling or heating, leaking, short cycling or making noise. That helps us bring the right parts the first time. The service call is free, and military and senior customers get 10% off the repair.
