Middle Tennessee does not have a six-month heating season, but the cold snaps are real. Gas furnaces, electric furnaces, and the heating side of a heat pump all show up in Spring Hill and Columbia houses. Eskimo Brothers repairs and replaces that equipment.
A no-heat call gets the same shop number as a no-cool call: 931-682-6969. No night or weekend charges on the published offers. Military and senior customers get 10% off repairs.
We work from both offices — Town Center Parkway in Spring Hill and the Garden Street basement shop in Columbia — and cover Maury County and Williamson County. If the furnace is the wrong size or simply worn out, we will talk replacement without padding the story.
Furnace and heat problems we see most
- Ignition and flame sensor faults on gas furnaces: the burners light, then shut off after a few seconds.
- Dirty filters and overheating. A blocked filter makes the furnace trip its high-limit switch and cycle on and off.
- Blower motor and capacitor failures, which leave you with a furnace that runs but no air at the registers.
- Electric heat strips and sequencers on electric furnaces and air handlers, common in all-electric homes around Maury County.
- Thermostat and wiring issues, especially after a new thermostat goes in.
Safety first with gas heat
If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not flip switches or try to relight anything. Every home with gas heat or an attached garage should have working carbon monoxide detectors. When we service a gas furnace we look at the burners, the flue and the venting, because a cracked heat exchanger or a blocked vent is a safety problem, not just a comfort problem.
Getting ready for the first cold snap
Middle Tennessee swings from AC in the afternoon to heat at night every fall. Before that first cold front, change the filter, run the heat for a few minutes on a mild day and notice any burning-dust smell that does not clear, odd noises or a system that will not stay lit. A fall check catches those early. The service call is free, there are no night or weekend charges on the published offers, and military and senior customers get 10% off repairs.
Heat pumps and backup heat
Many homes in Spring Hill and Columbia heat with a heat pump backed by electric strips or a gas furnace. If the backup heat runs constantly in mild weather, the bill climbs and the heat pump probably needs attention. Our heat pump page covers defrost, icing and backup heat in more detail. Heating calls are dispatched from both offices across Maury and Williamson County.
