Humidity is the big one here
Indoor humidity is best held between about 30 and 50 percent. Middle Tennessee summers push well past that, and an oversized or poorly set up air conditioner will cool the house without drying it. Signs you are running wet: a cold but clammy feel, condensation on windows or supply registers, musty closets and a crawl space that smells damp. Fixes range from blower speed and thermostat settings to a properly sized system or a whole-home dehumidifier.
Filtration, UV and duct cleaning
- Filters. A higher MERV filter catches more dust and pollen, but only if the blower can push air through it. We match the filter to the system so airflow does not suffer.
- Media filter cabinets. A thicker filter in a proper cabinet holds more dirt and lasts longer than a 1-inch filter.
- UV lights. UV at the indoor coil helps keep the coil and drain pan from growing slime in our humid summers.
- Duct cleaning. Worth it after renovation dust, pests or water damage. Not a cure for leaky ducts, which need sealing.
